The Iraq War Issue: The Facts Indicate a U.S. Victory

Here is the excellent commentary from the Campaign Spot blog at NationalReview.com. In the midst of all the fashionable Bush-hating, I have gone out on a limb before and said that historians will eventually rate Bush as a great war leader against Islamic extremism and will credit him with the guts to overthrow the genocidal Saddam Hussein. The facts are pointing in that direction, but don't hold your breath waiting for the historians to come on board right away. It will take time, but I believe the objective historians who will be able to analyze the events of the last few years with the benefit of more time having elapsed will eventually come around to elevating the stature of George W. Bush's war leadership and presidency. In fact, the Bush precedent of overthrowing the genocidal Saddam Hussein is a great precedent for the demise of other genocidal regimes. That precedent is a great victory for humanitarianism and for the international rule of law. Catholics and other Christians should applaud it.
