A Specter Haunts the Stupid Party
Consider this a follow-up to my colleague Christopher's Call to Action below. It comes from the pages of Times Against Humanity . . .
Point Blank (Round 16): A Specter Haunts the Stupid Party
Special Edition: Stop Specter! Save Lives!
Times Against Humanity departs from its customary mixed half-dozen of St. Blog's best to provide a parish sounding board for reactions to the anti-life posturing of the would-be Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Arlen Specter (RINO-PA).
You Could Begin Here
Arlen Specter is in line to become the next chairman of the Judiciary Committee unless the population works against him soon. Specter is a pro-abortion nitwit who is known for raging against the "Religious Right." The fact that he is even in office is a shame, since a pro-lifer could have won until Specter was backed by other pro-lifers—it's a long story. -Jay, Deo Omnis GloriaSo Do I, So Should You
Arlen Specter is an arrogant baby killer. How's that for a statement about a Republican. I don't vote Republican, although I've been accused of it. I vote pro-life. -Fr. Todd Reitemeyer, A Son Becomes a FatherTENTacles of Death
Sen. Specter recently attended a million dollar fundraiser for the Republican ProChoice Coalition...the so-called "Big Tent Celebration."He Shouldn't Get It—The Chair, That IsHmmm. "Big tent" is supposed to mean "A group, especially a political coalition, that accommodates people who have a wide range of beliefs, principles, or backgrounds." It's too bad their "big tent" doesn't include the women who regret and the babies we grieve. -Annie, After Abortion
Sen Specter doesn't get it. His statements indicate that he sees his election as his own personal mandate to obstruct the President's judicial nominees. He is not entitled to do this. He intends to impose the judicial philosophy of the loser of the election: blocking nominees who don't pass a no-Roe-repeal litmus test....
The President's standard should be to put personal policy preferences aside and follow the constitution. Sen Specter cannot be trusted to do this. -Patrick Sweeney, Extreme CatholicWhy It's Called the Stupid Party
I was puzzled and hurt by Senator Santorum's earlier endorsement of Mr. Spector over his pro-life opponent. It reminded me a lot of how the Republican party in NH schemed to oust a pro-life, pro-family Senator and replaced him with "moderate" Sununu junior. I may have voted for more Republicans in this last election than I have ever before in my life, but that doesn't mean that I whole heartedly endorse the party. -Alicia, Fructus VentrisDumb and Dumber
As a Casey Democrat, one of the things that most irked me about the last election is that the DNC refused to run a pro-life Democrat even when it was in their best interest to do so. Take Arlen Specter. The Pennsylvania senator possesses less credibility vis-a-vis family values than Bill Clinton addressing a teen chastity conference. A Casey Democrat could have easily unseated Specter. Even Ann Coulter said she would vote Democrat in any race where Specter was the Republican candidate. -Pete Vere, Catholic LightLast Word—I Hope Not!
I'm asking everyone who reads my blog to do everything they can to stand up for the dignity of human life in this country. With a pro-life President in the White House, with a pro-life Senate and House of Representatives, and with a moral mandate from the American people, we finally have the opportunity to save unborn lives in this country. Don't let Arlen Specter take that opportunity away from us; don't let Satan take that opportunity away from us. Your letter, your phone call, could be the one that makes the difference. For anyone who's reading this who has a blog, please post this information to your blog. Countless innocent lives could depend on simply getting the word out.
Finally, this war can't be won without prayer. Let's pray the Rosary for the Senate Judiciary Committee, that those who are on it will defend the dignity of human life, and that a strong defender of human life will become the next Chairman of the Judiciary Committee. Infant Jesus, hidden nine months in the womb of Mary, have mercy on us. Virgin Mary, Exterminatrix of All Heresy and Mother of Life, pray for us. St. Gianna Beretta Molla, pray for us. -Nathan Nelson, Fides, Spes, CaritasThanks also to Ales Rarus, Bettnet, Catholic and Enjoying It!, Catholicae Testudines, Chateau du Meau, Open Book, Professor Bainbridge , Real Catholic, The Blog from the Core, Two Sleepy Mommies, and those I've inadvertently overlooked. Once again, St. Blog's shows it cares.
